'Tis the Season

I found a radio station here that is playing all-Christmas carols, all the time. Now, for some of you in the English speaking world, you might be sick off all those tunes right about now. But for me, with the English deprived ear and a thing for December, it's been a little slice of heaven.

Of course, Mini-Husband and The Princess are not impressed with my vocal abilities. But I keep reminding them what my Catholic priest said way back when, when I still went to church,

"It's the voice God gave you, so even if it's horrible, it's thanks to God. So use it!"

Can't wait to surprise them with the Christmas CDs Grandma bought us for the car ride home. Heck, I suffered vomit on the way here, the least they can do is croak along with mommy on the way back!

7 hours of Christmas songs. In English. Ahhhhhh.....

I must admit, I am with the kids on that one. I was in England once around Christmas and all these Christmas carolls were too much for me ;-)

On the other hand: the tradition in my family is to listen to "la pastorale des santons" while putting the crèche up. If you remember well, we do not believe, never go to church, but la crèche is a big part of Christmas for us :-)

Turn it up baby and sing at the top of your lungs. My girls are now riding with their fingers in their ears...

Oh I've been loving my satellite radio since we drove home from Erie over Thanksgiving. 5 christmas stations to choose from. Different genre's. My favorite is the country christmas one, Music City Holiday. You can't beat Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers singing O Holy Night. Three of four are ready to go back to regular tunes for sure. But not Michael. He,s either a huge suck up or I've got him converted!!!!! And the voice the God gave me must be heard. On another note, the tunes at my new Episcopal (aka Anglican) church finally sound familiar. I guess you just can't take carols and advent tunes out of christianity.

The Alabama Christmas album is another one to add to the country Christmas collection. I love the Christmas carols! I'm listening to Andy Williams right now. My co-workers are glad I have headphones. :)

I think I should get some of those albums off of Amazon. I'd love to let my neighbours really hear and appreciate country!
