President: Le or Mr?

Mini-Husband got his birthday present from Kitty and Daddio this week.

I had explained to them that he had asked for an airport in the backyard. They weren't able to fullfill that construction request but they did find him an Air Force One airport play set. Two planes, a tv van, security cars, and a airport playmat.

Mini-Husband was beyond thrilled with it. He grabbed the planes, unrolled the playmat and was happy as Larry. (Who is Larry, by the way?)

I sat there with him protecting his 'world' from Bubba-Love when he turned and asked me,

"Who's planes are these?"

"They are Air Force One and Air Force Two." I replied. "They are the President's airplanes so he can go visit places."

"Wow! Nicholas Sarkozy has TWO airplanes!"

Check.

Roll converstion explaining presidents and which countries have them and just which ones have airplanes with names.

Someday I'll remember my kids don't have the same upbringing as I did.

Well, in fact there is at least one presidential aircraft. It is parked in Roissy and has République Francaise painted on it... I should see it in a few hours ;)
Not sure there are several of them, but the President tends to use the army means of transportation quite easily.

And by the way it's Mr Le Président ;-)

A little US history lesson. Good luck with all that. Maybe you should go to the web and show him all the cool stuff on those planes at least that might make an impression.

Thank you, Magali! I thought Sarko was only able to get around with his paparazzi! Who knew he had a plane!! ;) LOL

Safe journey!

Sue: Got any old US history books laying around? Di sent the Fort McHenry one about the revolution...such fun to demand of my British family to read!! LOL

I am positive that even Mitterand had the plane, and he was much more private than Sarko: he was ill and with an illegitimate child, every journalist knew about it and never published a story!
Now we just hear about the "glamour" side of the president, not his job.

Let me see what I can find...

The only Larry I know is from Veggie Tales. He's a pretty happy cucumber, but doubt he is the inspiration fro the saying.

Mini-hubster sees things from such amazing angles. I am not sure I know too many adults who would have come up with a comment like his. Smart kid!

Takes after his mother. ;)

(Can't wait to see what Hubster says to THAT!)

FYI, Air Force Two is actually the Vice President's plane. ANY plane that the President is on is Air Force One. Michael confirms this to be true. I think we can find some more US history books to send to the crew of lost americans.

There's a new tv show for you, "The Lost Americans!"

Thank Michael for the clear up. XOXO

Just a point of note: “Air Force One” is a call sign given to any Air Force aircraft that has the President aboard. The call sign for the Helicopter is called "Marine One". The only "Navy One" was the S-3 Viking that flew President Bush and landed on the USS Abraham Lincoln in the "Mission Accomplished" photo op.

I like it that we have someone like him in the family to keep us straight...
